OctoSAM Monitor is a special tool for optimizing the licenses of expensive special software applications. For example, programs such as ArcGIS, Fluent, Matlab and Origin, as well as products from well-known manufacturers such as Citrix and AutoDesk, are usually licensed according to the so-called network license model. These products are nearly always over-licensed so that users can use them smoothly. OctoSAM Monitor communicates directly with the respective license server and reveals the real usage of these applications. Based on this information, it is easy to quantify the number of licenses required and reduce licensing costs. As these are usually very expensive licenses, even reductions of five or ten licenses can result in massive cost savings.

OctoSAM AccessLog is an add-on module to OctoSAM Inventory. This module uses special Microsoft access data, analyses it and enables license cost optimization of Microsoft server products on this basis.

OctoSAM AccessLog extends OctoSAM Inventory to quickly and easily identify unused Microsoft server licenses. OctoSAM AccessLog records usage data from the last few months or years with a scan. The results are analyzed and presented using the reliable OctoSAM Inventory tool. Servers with a low degree of utilization are identified quickly. This makes it easy to clarify whether and in what form their further use makes sense. OctoSAM AccessLog uses data from Microsoft user access logging (UAL). These data are collected, aggregated and linked to the objects from OctoSAM Inventory. They are then available for meaningful analyses. The analysis results help to make optimum use of existing Microsoft Server licenses, reduce over-licensing or to select the most cost-effective license model.
